Honestly, the author is skilled at character development and plot, but there is so many instances of characters repeating the same thing. This happens both in consecutive sentences and from one chapter to the next.

Examples for the sentence to sentence go something like this:

He needed to repeat his words.
He had to repeat his words.
Yes.
His words needed to be repeated.

A good example of a painful set of repeated dialogue was when a character struggled with begging for her life. She brought up the fact she was not raised to beg, so she would not. Then she begged, and brings up the fact that she was not raised to beg AGAIN as if this was new information to the reader. It is not an internal struggle of whether or not to beg. It was the same information presented a second time as if the reader had no idea she was brought up not to beg and it was paragraphs in length. The same was true for her desire to run, but you get the point.

Even explaining the repeated dialogue is taxing. The author should really look back at what was already mentioned and make a note of it. That may sound harsh, but in the last few pages of this book a character is mentioned as having a flashlight. A few paragraphs later the same character that noticed the flashlight is surprised the character has a flashlight. That is just weak.

Again, the author is skilled with character development and plot. I will even say that skill makes the books worth reading, which is why I gave it three stars. Personally... I cannot take the shortcomings anymore and do not plan to read anything else from this author.

Superb writing! You feel like you are there...that's how you know this author is brilliant. Wonderful story....great characters....you never want this series to end......ever.

I absolutely love this series. Only complaint is the occasional typo, or use of the wrong character name. Story is great!
This series gets better and better. I am reading it along with the corresponding series about Chloe. The two stories are happening at the same time, so I am reading the two series together. And I am enjoying it. So on to the next episode.
I find it really hard to review any of Ryan Casey's books without spoilers (and I refuse to believe saying "Contains Spoilers" effectively stops anyone) because of his willingness to kill off any character. Though Season Six is sorely missing the Chloe character, and the chaos that she causes or is in the middle of, any fan will be thrilled with this entry. It helps that Chloe now has an excellent series of her own.

The action is fast, and the mystery that starts off the events is well played out. Of course it ends in a cliffhanger, but a major twist is thrown in as well that makes Season Seven that much more anticipated.
